Inspiration
Our team has many friends who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and we wanted to create a platform that celebrates and supports them. With AlliesInPride, we hope to make a positive impact on the world and help build a more inclusive society.
What it does
AlliesInPride is a social networking app that connects allies and members of the LGBTQ+ community. It offers a range of features, including Location-based matchmaking: The app uses your location to connect you with like-minded allies and community members nearby. AI Chat Bots: The app has an AI Chat Bot where you can discuss different topics related to the LGBTQ+ community, such as coming out, gender identity, and more. AlliesInPride, in addition, increases accessibility by providing a platform where members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies can connect, no matter where they are in the world, and always feel inclusive. Also, those who can't afford a therapist can use the AI Therapist to talk about their feelings.
How we built it
We built the ChatBot using the GPT API and the UI was created using gradio. We used the GoogleMaps and the GooglePlaces API to get the locations of community centers in the area and placed markers on the locations. We used Wix create the website and in the website we added more personalized items to the main topic.
Challenges we ran into
We had to learn new programming languages as no one on our team new HTML or JavaScript. This was a steep learning curve that we managed to climb in the limited team we had.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to apply HTML and JavaScript to our project is such a limited time.
What we learned
We learned that working together is efficient as all of us can split the work and collaborate together and create the best product.
What's next for AlliesInPride
We hope to go further with this project and maybe even host some meetings.
