Our project was inspired around the RESPEC challenge. We chose to add three main components towards accomplishing the task of encouraging a better workplace environment.

What it does

The three main components we added are physical exercise options, weekly volunteering services (after work-hours), and a leaderboard for users with the most amount of work-place health points (WHP). The goal is for the users within each department of a company to gain as many WHP’s as possible before the end of the month. The winning department gets a company-sponsored prize. The company gets the funding for the prize from the health-insurance costs they save from a healthier workforce. In addition, the weekly volunteering is factored into the points system, encouraging workers to go out and help others.

How I built it

We built this using swift within x-code. There were no API’s being used because all of the weekly volunteering is something that the lead of each department chooses themselves and adds to the app.

Challenges I ran into

Some challenges we ran into were getting the app to work on a phone, even though it worked on the simulator. In addition, thinking of the idea took a very long time and making the UI was very tedious.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of how the UI looks. In addition, we are proud of how many challenges we were able to incorporate into this.

What I learned

We learned that idea planning should be done a lot quicker (not focusing too much on the very minor details). We also learned that splitting up the work helps a lot with productivity (surprising). F

What's next for Alliance

rom here, we plan on partnering with insurance companies (such as Statefarm) to use the point system to judge healthiness, and perhaps provide cheaper life insurance for those with higher points (meaning less risk of dying).
