Inspiration

As university students, we often have so much on our minds that we forget to take the time to care for ourselves. As a result, health issues such as mental distress and physical discomfort are becoming more common among students. Chronic disorders such as sleep deprivation, back pain, headache, and nausea disrupt students’ routines and impair their academic performances. Many students are either unaware of their own discomforts or are too engulfed in their busy lives to care. At Alleviate, we believe that students in this new age deserve a safe and quick way of tracking their well-being. We to make it easy for students to take a minute out of everyday to record their mental and physical state, so we developed a web app that does just that.

What it does

Our app features a fully-fledged authentication system that is able to identify users based on their account ID’s. Once an user creates a account and signs in, they are able to easily log how they feel at that moment straight away.

Now here is the good part, once the user enters the fields and presses submit, the inputs are sent directly to the Chat-GPT API, which provides suggestions based on the description provided by the user in real-time.

Users are also able to see their past logs, which makes it easy to spot patterns and trends about their well-being.

What's next for Alleviate

In a high-pressure environment like an university where stress is a constant factor, students often neglect their mental and physical well-being or put them off as side-hassles. Alleviate makes it enjoyable to prioritize awareness for one’s mental and physical states and provides guidance to any problems that are troubling its users. With Alleviate, students can build the essential habit of mindfulness, where they are actively aware of how they are feeling even on the busiest days.

As of right now, users are only able to see their own logs. However, we plan to expand on the breadth of Alleviate and feature a community post page where people are able to connect with others who are experiencing the same feelings as them. Research shows that symptoms of mental distress can be alleviated by simply knowing that you are not alone. We want to create a tightly woven community where people emphasize and provide encouragements to those in need.

We can’t control everything, but we can control our own body and how we treat it. Alleviate makes people realize that nothing is more important than our well-being and reminds us to take care of it. There are way too many things to worry about in the outside world, so why don’t we take some time to worry about ourselves first?
