Inspiration

The inspiration to build a food allergy tracker website stems from a personal journey of experiencing the challenges and limitations posed by food allergies. As someone who personally deals with food allergies, the lack of dedicated platforms for managing these allergies has highlighted a significant gap in resources and support. The goal is to empower users with accurate information, foster a sense of safety in their food choices, and provide a supportive community where they can share experiences and tips.

What it does

Our website offers users the ability to effortlessly track food items, uncover their underlying ingredients, and identify potential allergens. By providing this information, it raises awareness about food allergies and assists users in understanding which ingredients could trigger adverse reactions. Additionally, users can specify their symptoms, allowing the platform to suggest potential food allergies based on their profile. The website also facilitates the creation of medication reminders, ensuring timely adherence to prescribed treatments. Furthermore, users can explore a diverse array of blogs covering topics related to health, nutrition, and allergy management, fostering a supportive community and promoting informed choices.

How we built it

1.Data Collection: We meticulously gathered essential data encompassing Symptoms, Food Ingredients, and Medical Professionals.

Robust Database: Leveraging the power of MongoDB Atlas, we established a robust and secure database infrastructure to efficiently store user information.
Seamless Frontend Integration: Seamlessly merging our backend work done with Flask and the meticulously designed database, we achieved a harmonious integration with the frontend interface. This cohesive fusion resulted in a user-friendly and comprehensive Allergy Tracker.

Challenges we ran into

Data Quality and Collection: Securing accurate and comprehensive data for symptoms, food ingredients, and medical professionals proved to be a significant challenge. Ensuring data reliability while sourcing from various reputable sources required meticulous validation and cleansing.
Database Design and Management: Constructing an efficient database structure on MongoDB Atlas posed challenges in terms of scalability and optimizing data retrieval. Striking a balance between performance and data integrity was an ongoing consideration.
Time Constraints: Adhering to project timelines while simultaneously addressing unforeseen challenges required efficient time management and prioritization. Balancing feature development, testing, and refinement within the allocated time frame was a consistent consideration.

What we learned
