Inspiration
ALLASTRIA was inspired by a love for high fantasy and the drive to explore new frontiers in storytelling using AI. The project began with the question: what happens when generative tools meet epic tales of loss, resilience, and transformation? Drawing on classic fantasy and medieval motifs like The Lord of the Rings, Braveheart and Gladiator, ALLASTRIA's first three chapters follow Allastrian swordswoman - Taliesar as she journeys through a shattered homeland while confronting a wolf-wizard facing a dilemma of his own. The goal was to evoke timeless emotions—hope, fear, longing—in a visually rich narrative built entirely through AI-powered creation.
What it does
ALLASTRIA (Act 1 Chapters 1 - 3) delivers a fantasy adventure in two perspectives. Chapter 1 follows Taliesar’s return to her ruined hometown of Rulmark, while confronting the consequences of war and betrayal. Chapter 2 shifts to the wolf-wizard - a Primoerial being hunted by Taliesar - who faces either fight or flight for survival. Chapter 3 culminates in an epic battle as the Primoerials launch an all-out attack on one of Allastria's bastions. The film uses generative AI for visuals, music, and voice, immersing viewers in a story where destiny, redemption, and magic collide.
How we built it
Production combined AI video generators, voice synthesis, and music composition platforms across multiple workflows, led by iterative prompt engineering and careful direction. Each scene was refined frame-by-frame for emotional depth and visual cohesion; character expressions and transitions were guided using custom prompts and feedback loops. Post-production involved syncing AI-generated dialog and score, ensuring both chapters felt united as a single, cinematic experience.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the biggest challenges involved creating realistic performances and smooth continuity between AI-generated shots. Achieving nuanced lipsync, believable micro-expressions, and dramatic pacing required countless test runs and revisions. Making fantasy elements like transformation and magic visually clear—without slipping into cliché—also proved technically demanding, especially for emotional scenes where subtlety matters most.
Other challenges include normalizing voices as generated character voices differ clip to clip. We used tools like ElevenLabs' voice cloning to normalize voices across the entire pipeline so that the same character's voice is the same scene to scene, without losing the emotional brevity of her cries, whispers and screams.
Another big challenge with long-form AI storytelling is manually creating sound effects on AI-generated film. There is still the need to do foley SFX for each generated 5- or 8-second clip, which can get really time-consuming still. With long-form AI content being 20+ minutes long, there is a need to compile and keep SFX files handy for repurpose and use.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
ALLASTRIA stands out as a fully AI-driven film that delivers authentic emotional impact, blending stunning visuals and fantasy lore with dramatic depth. Key milestones include bringing Taliesar and the Primoerial wolf-wizard to life with detail and gravitas, precisely matching lipsync to musical cues, and building a seamless transition between both chapters. The project demonstrates that generative AI can support sophisticated long-form storytelling, sustaining some consistency in characters and hold an audience captive beyond the current trend of short viral AI clips.
What we learned
This project emphasized the critical role of prompt engineering and workflow iteration for maximizing AI’s creative potential. Lessons included understanding how artistic direction influences generative results, and how continuity, emotional realism, and structure require hands-on, incremental refinement. AI models, when thoughtfully guided, can produce subtle performances and complex narratives beyond simple spectacle. We were very surprised with the way the Primoerial wolf-wizard was created. We used an artist's real rendered drawing and by giving it to an AI model, fully flesh him out into a believable emotional character which we can watch, follow and care about as an audience.
What's next for ALLASTRIA (Act 1 Chapters 1 - 3)
Future plans include continuing and completing the full arc of ALLASTRIA. The story has several Acts and this is just chapters 1-3 of Act 1. We hope, if we do win something from Chroma Awards, it will encourage us to continue producing and finishing the story. It will also give us a reason to deepen world-building with richer character arcs and lore. Workflow improvements will focus on dynamic scene transitions, advanced voice synthesis, and tighter music integration. The journey will be documented and shared to help empower other creators exploring AI-powered storytelling, with hopes to eventually create interactive, branching story experiences for audiences everywhere.
