Inspiration

Travelers often struggle to find one application that combines all essential travel services in a single place. Planning international travel can be overwhelming, especially for first-time travelers, due to the need to understand budgets, distances, and cultural differences. As a result, many travelers lack a clear, reliable guide to help them plan and travel with confidence.

What it does

Our app recommends first-time and experienced travelers where they want to go based on their community preference and budget. They can pick between rural and urban communities, while inputting budget to discover new locations to travel to. These recommendations can also be explore into greater detail through their respective location detail cards.

How we built it

We built it using frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, and HTML, along with backend technologies such as FastAPI and Python. It was also designed using Penpot.

Challenges we ran into

It was hard finding data from external services since they all required money that we weren't willing to spend. It took a long time narrowing down ideas and features that we want in our app and all of these proposed features weren't able to be completed in time. For less experienced members, it was hard to implement and utilize APIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the progress we've made in creating the recommendation module and the design of our app. I think it helped to divide the work amongst ourselves between coding and design.

What we learned

We learned how to create a web application, while also going through the process of what a typical software sprint could look like.

What's next for All Voyager

In the future we would like to add more features and cities, resulting in details of travel itineraries. We also want to recommend users famous tourist spots, add more destinations, and show users affordable hotels and AirBnbs.
