Inspiration
I met Mez (Vikingur), a master of atmospheric Turkish Anatolian rock. His track “Was in Vain” lit the fuse for fusing that sound with my hip hop storytelling. The original “Aliens” is a refugee vs “alien” parable. I rewrote sections into a duet so the message could breathe with a female vocal and band energy. Goal: keep the core question intact while giving it a new soul through Anatolian rock’s groove, psychedelia, and emotional weight.
What it does
Reimagines the song as a rock–rap duet with call and response phrasing, choral lifts, and instrumental breaks that carry the argument without over-explaining. Brings my original imagery and metaphor to life on screen as a band performance where the “alien” and the “refugee” are musicians. In my original song/video combination (https://www.youtube.com/@UCp6PutaF2C5Knd8oXB92OYA) the story was told in wall murals, it was important to me to keep the DNA sort of alive in this music video. In this video i tried to make a real as it can be Music video. A Singer , a band, the Rapper intersecting and being a scene stealer. And overall have the visual vibe match the sound.
How we built it
Lyrics adapted for duet structure, repeated refrains, and shared lines to create tension then release. Arrangement guided in Suno with the use of prompts that lean into the Anatolian rock motifs: driving drums, psychedelic guitars, Eastern-leaning melodic phrasing, atmospheric pads. Vocals: my rap verses plus a female lead for the refrains and key counterlines. Visuals: Sora-generated performance clips curated for continuity and energy fully utilizing the storyboard feature. this was pre nano banana so i made heavy use of Sora actually hallucinating on purpose to get jumping of points for new generations. I avoided lip sync by trying to align the footage i had as close as i could to the delivers of the lines...doesn't always work out but its passable in many cases.. Some smarter edits utilizing certain transitions to give the whole composition that psychedelic flair in DaVinci Resolve helped to capture the look and feel and to obscure some areas where the lip synch felt shacky. Lots of blur and controlled bloom helped also to blend varied Sora outputs.
Challenges we ran into
Character consistency in Sora pre nano banana. Solved by strict selection of seeds to anchor new generations through soras storyboard feature, just heavy curation. Duet balance. Ensuring the female vocalist felt integral, togheter with the rest of her band members. Lip sync. Again heavy curation on which clip can go where and tried to fill the gaps with some smarter b-roll choices. mouth-closeups are no issue on the rap part since I use my usual mask as per my brand. but on the female vocalist it was heavy curation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A true musical fusion of two genres that are so wildly different, I don't think anyone ever got that idea to fuse american east coast hip-hop with Turkish psychodelic rock of all things... But even better, have relevant lyrics that fit the theme where the message reads clearer and hits harder, not just a style overlay. A performance video that feels like a band you could book and see on stage, even though it is stitched from AI outputs. All this in maybe one of the worst video gen models for consistency and workability. I did specialize in Sora1 and it kind of feels useless now that sora2 is out (haven't used that yet since im in EU where its not released yet) but I feel even after veo3 came out and all these updates to kling and wan, Sora1 could visually still hold its own when used correct.
What we learned
For generative video, energy sells better than perfect lip sync. Cut to phrasing, transients, and breath. You can create a visual experience on a dime. all i needed here was a suno subscription and a month or ChatGPT Plus to pull this off.
What's next for Aliens (Anatolian Rock Remix)
This was the third time i used these lyrics....i will rest this theme for now. The video is on my Youtube and i will try on occasion to maybe make some content around it to drive a bit traffic as I am very proud of what i accomplished. I got some sweet reactions on the premiere on Youtube (see the live chat replay). I think its sad that the video gets hidden by the YT Algo but I am happy about the reactions I got from the People that were able to see it. The topic is still relevant and I am sure it's not the last time I get the chance to show off this one.
