Inspiration
We made a game last year in Shellhacks 2020 so now with an additional member we wanted to make another one. One of our members is passionate about game dev and the rest of us wanted to expand what we know and work on something new.
What it does
It is an endless horror themed survival game having no UI to go for a more "realistic" feeling not seeing things such as health or ammo. Having monsters attack you endlessly while having nowhere to run and trying to survive for as long as possible while defending yourself.
How we built it
Using Unity with some assets we received. Programmed in C#, designing concepts on tablets and implementing inside Unity
Challenges we ran into
Most of us on top of learning C#, having to learn Unity and how it works. From there learning things like Ray-casting and implementing it into our projects.
We assisted each other when we were making certain scripts with our AI enemies or triggering certain events and just changing concepts of the game throughout the weekend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to have a working final product on top of our smaller achievements getting certain scripts to work correctly after working on them for a while.
What we learned
We learned more Unity and C#, as well as how much is needed to get functional AI enemies working with their animations and targeting.
What's next for Alien Survival
From this project and our new built skills we'll be able to continuously improve this project or move on to bigger ambitious ideas in game dev.
