Inspiration
We wanted to build a retro two-player cooperative game that used 8 bit pixels for game art.
What it does
The game is a two-player 8 bit game created by Unity and Dotpict.
How we built it
We used Unity for the game code and engine. For the 8 bit pixel art is made using Dotpict.
Challenges we ran into
We made all of the 8 bit pixel art ourselves, and that took a very long time to complete. We also had issues with making gravity outside the ship work properly for the Alien player.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a lot of cool 8 bit game with amazing art.
What we learned
How time consuming good art can be when it comes to designing it from the ground up. Additionally, we learned a lot about how to use Unity. None of us really had a firm understanding of Unity coming into this Hackathon, but we did our best to try and make it work as much as we could with what we did know and could achieve.
What's next for Alien & Axolotl
Our team will work on finishing the game properly as we all really enjoyed the process of making it and we want to make it even better.
