Inspiration
We were excited to experiment with a new API and try to see our idea able to talk back to us when prompted
What it does
It allows for a single player or multiple players to play Categories against a computer opponent.
How I built it
We used the ASK Alexa SDK along with Python to program the Skill.
Challenges I ran into
The majority of our group had no prior Python experience, and none of us had any Alexa skill development experience. The process proved difficult due to the lack of available documentation regarding the SDK we used.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Despite the lack of documentation, we were able to effectively fix the bugs that appeared throughout the development process, and made a fully functional applet that is fun to play and presents an interesting challenge.
What I learned
All team members gained valuable experience in both Python and Alexa Development, as well as coding collaboratively. We found that, by working on a team, bugs that would have confused one person were often easily remedied, and that it made the time pass very quickly.
What's next for Alexa Categories Game
Due to its expandable nature, new categories can be added easily, and we'd like to publish the skill on the Amazon Skill Store. The skill is currently only testable in the
