Inspiration
Engineering students often struggle to maintain focus while juggling multiple assignments, lab records, and coding practice. We wanted to build a centralized, voice-enabled study copilot using Alexa's device ecosystem principles that seamlessly adapts the student's physical and digital workspace.
What it does
Alexa+ Study Copilot orchestrates:
- Focus Mode Automation: Tunes ambient room lighting to Cool White (6500K), activates noise suppression, and triggers structured 25-minute Pomodoro study sprints.
- Academic Task Syncing: Voice-driven assignment logging directly into an active priority planner.
- Ambient Break Switching: Dynamically adjusts room lighting to Warm Amber (2700K) and initiates lo-fi audio relaxation channels.
- Real-time Telemetry: Live feedback for study environment metrics including ambient temperature, AQI, and desk illumination.
How we built it
- Backend: Python (Flask) providing simulated device state APIs and real-time JSON payload processing.
- Frontend: Responsive interface featuring dynamic Alexa orb animations, live state cards, and Web Speech API synthesis.
- Integration: RESTful API communication between client events and device state models.
Challenges we ran into
Handling real-time state synchronization between simulated ambient devices and client-side reactive components while maintaining an intuitive voice UI feedback loop.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created a fully functional, lightweight full-stack prototype running an end-to-end device management flow with voice feedback in real time.
What's next for Alexa+ Study Copilot
- Integrating physical Zigbee/Matter smart bulbs via Alexa Smart Home Skill APIs.
- Adding automated calendar syncing for university LMS assignment deadlines.
