Alexa+ Smart Shopping Assistant

Inspiration

I want to make online shopping easier and more natural using conversational AI, allowing customers to find products simply by describing their needs.

What it does

Alexa+ Smart Shopping Assistant helps users discover products based on their preferences and budget through natural-language conversations.

How we built it

We designed a Python MCP server using Streamable HTTP to expose product-search tools, with AWS services planned for hosting, monitoring, and scaling.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding MCP integration, defining useful tools, configuring HTTP transport, and planning secure AWS deployment were our main challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We designed a modular prototype that demonstrates how AI assistants can connect to shopping services through standardized MCP tools.

What we learned

We learned how MCP connects AI assistants with external tools and how AWS can support secure, scalable AI-powered applications.

What's next for Alexa+ Smart Shopping Assistant

We plan to integrate a live product catalog, improve recommendations, strengthen authentication, deploy to AWS, and explore Alexa+ Preview integration.
