Inspiration
With the launch of Alexa+, developers need an accessible way to prototype and test simulated agent behaviors, action logs, and multi-intent smart home device controls without relying on complex backend setups or physical smart home hardware.
What it does
Simulates Voice Commands: Models multi-intent smart home automation requests eg. Alexa, set movie mode Real-time Device State Logs:Simulates sequential system executions, such as dimming connected smart lights and adjusting thermostat settings. Lightweight Web Interface: Provides an accessible, responsive single-page experience running entirely in standard browsers via HTML and JavaScript.
How we built it
Frontend: Built using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for zero-dependency execution. Hosting & Preview:Hosted on GitHub and rendered seamlessly via HTMLPreview for quick accessibility.
Challenges we ran into
Building a smooth client-side simulation that accurately mimics asynchronous voice agent responses without external dependencies required careful timing and clean event handling.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created a zero-setup, instant-load web application that accurately showcases simulated Alexa+ agent workflows.
What we learned
We gained valuable insights into structuring multi-intent voice automation workflows and presenting agent activity logs clearly to users.
What's next for Alexa+ Smart Home Agent Simulator
Integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) server endpoints for live agent execution. Adding customizable smart home device triggers and custom voice intent builders.
