Alexa+ Life Assistant AI

Inspiration

We wanted to create a personal AI assistant that does more than answer questions. People often struggle to manage their daily schedules, remember important tasks, and achieve their goals. This inspired us to build Alexa+ Life Assistant AI, an intelligent assistant that helps users plan, organize, and complete everyday activities.

What It Does

Alexa+ Life Assistant AI is an AI-powered personal assistant that transforms user requests into actionable plans.

Key features include:

AI Chat Assistant: Understands user requests through text or voice.
Smart Task Planning: Breaks large goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
Personal Memory: Stores user preferences and remembers relevant information.
Schedule Management: Helps users organize their daily activities and deadlines.
AI Agent Tools: Uses tools to create tasks, retrieve saved information, and update progress.
Progress Dashboard: Displays completed tasks, pending activities, and progress toward goals.

How We Built It

The project uses React and Vite for the frontend, Node.js and Express for the backend, and an AI model for understanding requests and planning actions. An MCP server exposes tools that the AI agent can use to interact with task management, memory, and scheduling functions. A database stores tasks and user preferences for future sessions.

Challenges We Faced

One of the main challenges is connecting AI-generated plans with real actions. We need to ensure that the assistant selects the correct tools, handles errors, and updates information reliably. Another challenge is maintaining useful user context while keeping the interface simple and responsive.

What We Learned

This project helped us explore AI agents, tool calling, MCP integration, full-stack development, and persistent data storage. We learned that a useful AI assistant should not only provide information but also help users take meaningful actions.

What's Next

Future improvements include more natural voice interactions, personalized recommendations, calendar integration, configurable reminders, and additional connected tools. Our long-term goal is to make everyday planning easier through a reliable, personalized AI assistant. Inspiration
