Inspiration
We love to engineer new things and were very inspired to create this project (Disrupting travel industry) as there are features that are yet to be implemented. As a result, we decided to take this challenge to engineer an enhanced version of what could be vital in the travel industry.
What it does
This project has various features such as the usual booking of airline ticket which can be done either through voice recognition or chatting with it. Upon making a reservation, a message will be sent to the user's facebook to notify him of his booking of his air ticket. On top of that, it can also make recommendations for the user regarding potential trips which he or her might want to attend. This includes accommodation near to the destination being recommended to the user to further enhance user experience.
How we built it
We built it using Python, Alexa, Facebook Chat.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges we ran into was using the API given. We find it extremely confusing and perplexing. As a result, we decided to drop it as it consumed too much of our time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishments that we are proud of are that we were able to implement various features that help improve the bot especially using Alexa as a bot that is capable of voice recognition.
What we learned
We had learned to think critically in coming up with ideas and learned to implement new algorithms for our bot.
What's next for Alexa Airline
We hope to be able to complete it one day with machine learning which we lack the time to do so. We had a database which stores data from previous booking which can be used to train a model to determine the pattern of a user.
