Inspiration
Our inspiration came from friends and our own poor dating experiences on apps like Tinder and Hinge- we wanted to create something new and authentic for dating.
What it does
Our app provides users with an authentic means of connecting with people via video profiles (instead of pictures and bios) and an interface that facilitates people to meet and engage with each other.
How we built it
In the true nature of AGILE development we opted to use Node.js, React-Native, and Expo Go to quickly iterate our design and front-end. Back-end services were out of scope of this project as all the functionality we needed was contained in the aforementioned stack.
Challenges we ran into
From a design perspective, we had to figure out how to maintain a simple design while maintaining our key user experience. Initially we tried to built a fully fleshed out back-end with Firebase, however the were considerable challenges and environment management issues. Given the time-frame, we decided to pivot to more immediate use cases.
Accomplishments that we're proud
- We created an awesome working proof-of-concept
- A strong theme, idea, logo and user-experience
- Positive reactions from our fellow hackers
What we learned
- Life cycle of AGILE development
- User experience flow chart
- Relying on our teammates individual skillsets
What's next for Alethia
Between the progression and the positive reactions of our peers, we truly believe in this apps value in the real-world. We would like to get in front of investors and create a team to scale this prototype into the market.
