Inspiration

The inspiration for Aletheia came from the constant influx of information and ideas in our lives. We wanted a tool that doesn’t just store notes but actively engages with them—helping users connect insights, track progress, and recall valuable information when needed. Our goal was to create an intuitive, AI-driven experience that feels like having a personal assistant for your thoughts.

What it does

Aletheia is an intelligent note-taking platform that captures, organizes, and enhances your notes. Powered by AI, it helps users find connections between ideas, recalls key insights, and even offers personalized prompts to explore thoughts further. Whether it’s for life reflections or work projects, Aletheia guides you through your notes, turning scattered ideas into actionable knowledge.

How we built it

We built Aletheia using Next.js for the frontend, Clerk for authentication, and OpenAI’s language models for the AI-powered guidance. The app is hosted on Vercel, making it fast and reliable. Using a modular approach, we integrated interactive features like an AI chat assistant and a beautiful, responsive UI with customizable themes.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was optimizing the AI interactions to feel natural and responsive without slowing down the user experience. Integrating Clerk with Next.js also presented a learning curve, particularly for seamless authentication across different devices. Managing state across the app and ensuring a smooth UI for all components were other technical hurdles we faced.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a tool that feels personal and impactful, blending utility with a calming, aesthetically pleasing design. Successfully integrating AI to make note-taking more meaningful and helping users gain deeper insights from their thoughts was a huge accomplishment. Overcoming technical challenges and creating a robust, polished app under time constraints was also a big win.

What we learned

We learned a lot about managing real-time AI interactions and optimizing frontend performance, especially with the added complexity of themes and state management. This project also reinforced the importance of thoughtful design—ensuring the app is both visually pleasing and intuitive to use.

What's next for Aletheia

Next, we plan to introduce more AI-driven features, like topic summarization, smart categorization, and reminders for important notes. We’re also exploring integrations with productivity tools to help users sync and extend their workflows. Our vision is to make Aletheia a comprehensive knowledge assistant that grows alongside its users’ ideas and insights.
