Inspiration
As busy college students, we understand the difficulties when it comes to waking up, especially to old-school default phone alarms. Alara is our solution.
What it does
An intelligent alarm app with AI-powered voice briefings that helps you wake up informed and ready for the day. It takes data from your calendar, email, the weather and news to give you a comprehensive summary of the upcoming day.
How we built it
- A LOT of Cursor, Claude, and Chat
Challenges we ran into
- Working with SwiftUI and the Apple Ecosystem—Apple doesn't have a framework that would allow developers to create alarms like the ones found in the Apple Clock App
- To create alarms with custom sounds, they have to be transformed into a particular audio format and specifications
- Google OAuth and connecting authentication from frontend to gmail and calendar api
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating an iOS app with very little experience in SwiftUI
- Integrating LiveKit for TTS and STT
- Designing a sleek logo
What we learned
- iOS development
What's next for Alara
Launching on the app store Todo list widget and tab Punishments for the missing an alarm and challenges to wake up
