Inspiration
What inspired us to build this project was to advance the online shopping experience by making it easier using features made available by an in-built Voice Assistant.
What it does
The Voice Assistant can execute many tasks like adding and deleting the said items, figuring out the total amount of the cart, gathering information about the items, and much more.
How we built it
We built the project using JavaScript and by integrating the Alan AI software to enable the Voice Assistant. We used React to create a local host that would launch the E-Commerce site.
Challenges we ran into
Alan AI was a new software to us so using it for the first time brought its own challenges. We learnt a lot about it through the Alan Docs and implemented our learnings in the project as well. Before, the Alan button wasn't taking any actions on the text even after recognising it, but later after some debugging and a serious Google-ing session, we were able to make the project work without any errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learnt many new features about the platform such as Alan AI as well. The hackathon gave us the opportunity to get to know about the many technologies of the world.
What we learned
We are grateful to have learnt about a new software platform, its uses and the many ways we can make different platforms interact with each other. We learnt about the use of APIs as well.
What's next for E-Commerce Site
We can add additional commands to the Voice Assistant to make the process smoother. We can also add the Voice Assistant to other platforms and sites as well to make them function on voice commands as well. We can work on making the Graphical User Interface a little more smooth and more user-friendly.
