Inspiration

In the Philippines, where resources for neurodivergent children can often be limited or inaccessible, parents, teachers, and caregivers frequently find themselves overwhelmed and unsupported. Stories of families struggling to address meltdowns, manage sensory overload, or create effective learning environments are all too common. With cultural values deeply rooted in family and community, we were inspired to create AlalAI—a platform that empowers Filipino caregivers with accessible, real-time, and personalized strategies to help neurodivergent children thrive. By addressing the unique challenges faced in the Philippine context, AlalAI aims to foster inclusivity and understanding, one family at a time.

What it does

AlalAI is an AI-driven platform that delivers personalized, evidence-based strategies tailored to each neurodivergent child's unique needs. It securely processes care plans, therapist insights, and medical records to create a dedicated database for each child. Whether it's calming a meltdown, managing sensory overload, or creating tailored learning strategies, AlalAI provides instant, actionable guidance to caregivers and educators.

Challenges we ran into

Ideating took a long time and 23 hours isn't enough to build everything from scratch since we also have to think about the pitch, PPT, documentation requirements, and more.

What we learned

Throughout this process, we learned the importance of empathy in technology design, especially for tools that address sensitive and deeply personal challenges. We also gained deeper insights into the critical role of collaboration between caregivers, educators, and therapists in creating consistent support systems for neurodivergent children.

What's next for AlalAI: Neurodivergent Ally

  • Enhanced Features: Expanding the platform’s capabilities to include development of lesson plans for teachers.
  • Having a wider range of neurodivergent conditions, and expand beyond ASD
