Akzição

Inspiration

Akzição was born from a problem I experienced firsthand.

I work as an Occupational Safety and Health Technician in a construction company in Angola. Due to the company's limited staff structure, I also had the opportunity to support warehouse management and observe how purchasing needs were handled across different departments.

Although the company used digital communication tools such as WhatsApp to share requests, I noticed several recurring challenges: fragmented information, difficulties tracking purchase requests, lack of visibility into suppliers and market prices, and time-consuming processes for organizing invoices and reviewing acquisition records.

I realized that many companies around me faced similar difficulties. The problem was not the lack of effort from employees; it was the absence of a structured, secure, and accessible system designed for their reality.

In 2025, I participated in the Boa Energia Digital challenge, an innovation competition organized by Pumangol, one of Angola's largest companies in the energy sector. The challenge involved developing a digital procurement solution to improve negotiations between Pumangol and its partners.

Although I finished as a runner-up, the experience transformed the way I viewed technology and entrepreneurship. I gained valuable knowledge about digital procurement and understood the potential that technology could bring to businesses and communities.

Akzição emerged from the combination of those experiences: the daily problems I witnessed, the knowledge acquired during the competition, and my desire to create a solution that could improve how Angolan companies manage acquisitions and collaborate with local suppliers.

I invested my own time, energy, and personal savings into this project because I believe better procurement processes can contribute to more organized, transparent, and efficient businesses in Angola.

What it does

Akzição is a digital procurement platform designed to solve organizational gaps in purchasing processes and improve relationships between companies and their suppliers.

The platform allows companies to manage the entire procurement lifecycle in one centralized environment: from identifying a business need, creating purchase requests, evaluating options, searching for better prices, completing purchases securely, and managing warehouse entries.

Instead of relying on disconnected communication channels, companies can have a structured view of their acquisition operations available anytime, anywhere, through verified access for managers, buyers, and other authorized users.

Akzição focuses on simplicity, accessibility, security, and transparency. It was designed with the reality of Angolan businesses in mind, where improving organization and supplier relationships can create significant operational value.

OpenAI technologies played an important role in making this project possible. As an independent developer with a technical background that was still growing, I used AI tools to accelerate learning, improve development quality, solve technical challenges, and execute a project that traditionally would require a larger team, more resources, and much more time.

The difference between Akzição and traditional approaches is the centralization of procurement data, intuitive workflows, improved visibility, and a stronger foundation for auditing and operational control.

How we built it

The first idea for Akzição appeared between May 24–26, 2026, after a conversation with a coworker.

The question was simple:

"What if there was an application that made it easier to manage responsibilities and remember every material that each department needs?"

That question stayed in my mind. By the end of that day, I was already imagining what such a platform would need to do to solve the problems I faced every day.

Before writing code, I focused on defining the product vision, user flows, interface structure, and the functionalities that would truly create value. I used Gemini initially to organize early drafts and ideas, and only started coding after having a clearer product direction.

The complete conception of the platform — including product decisions, UI/UX direction, brand identity, features, and priorities — was defined by me. AI tools supported the execution process, but the vision and decisions behind Akzição remained my responsibility.

The platform was built using a modern technology stack, including:

  • React for the frontend experience;
  • Node.js and TypeScript for backend services;
  • PostgreSQL with Prisma for data management;
  • Docker-based environments;
  • Authentication, role-based access control, audit systems, notifications, and multi-tenant architecture.

Throughout development, I used OpenAI tools, including ChatGPT and Codex, as development partners for research, problem-solving, code assistance, architecture discussions, debugging, and improving implementation quality.

From late May until July 16, 2026, I dedicated around 8 hours per day to the project, including nights and weekends. What started as an idea became a functional SaaS platform through continuous learning, experimentation, and execution.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenges were not only technical but also personal.

The first challenge was balancing my professional responsibilities as an Occupational Safety and Health Technician with the intense development schedule required to build Akzição. Many development sessions happened late at night after work or during weekends.

The second challenge was learning and applying concepts related to multi-tenant architecture. Designing a platform capable of securely serving multiple companies required understanding new technical areas and making careful architectural decisions.

The third challenge was maintaining consistency and discipline during a demanding period. After 25–30 consecutive days of intense development, research, and problem-solving, mental exhaustion became a real challenge.

However, I never considered giving up. I knew how much dedication had been invested, and I wanted the effort and time spent to become something meaningful.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The accomplishment I am most proud of is not only the platform itself, but the person I became while building it.

Before Akzição, there were moments when programming and software development felt completely unfamiliar to me. Today, I can participate in complex technical discussions, understand architectural decisions, and contribute to building a real SaaS product.

My journey started with a desire to win the Boa Energia Digital challenge. I did not win the competition, but the person I had to become to compete at that level changed me.

That experience gave me the confidence, discipline, and motivation needed to transform an idea into a working platform almost entirely by myself.

Akzição represents proof that continuous learning, commitment, and consistent action can transform an ambitious idea into reality.

What we learned

Building Akzição taught me the power of my own actions.

I already understood that our decisions and attitudes influence the world around us, but experiencing the transformation of an abstract idea into a functional SaaS platform was something completely different.

This project showed me that ideas only create impact when combined with discipline, execution, and continuous improvement.

If I could give advice to myself at the beginning of this journey, I would say:

Stay serious, stay curious, keep learning, use the tools available to you, and remain consistent even when the process becomes difficult.

The journey of building Akzição was not only about creating software; it was about discovering what is possible when determination meets technology.

What's next for Akzição

The next chapter for Akzição is focused on growth and real-world adoption.

My goal is to transition from my current role as an Occupational Safety and Health Technician and dedicate myself fully to developing Akzição and expanding its impact in the Angolan market.

By January 2027, I aim to begin establishing partnerships with local companies, onboarding the first users, and investing in strategic marketing initiatives to increase awareness nationwide.

I believe there is strong potential for adoption because connecting companies and suppliers through intelligent digital tools can simplify daily operations, improve organization, and create more efficient business relationships.

Over the next five years, my vision is for Akzição to become one of Angola's leading procurement platforms, helping companies manage acquisitions with more transparency, security, and efficiency.

OpenAI will continue to be an important technology partner in this journey, supporting innovation and helping improve the products and services that Akzição will deliver in the future.
