Inspiration

“Akashgange” was born from reverence for the Shiva Mahimna Stotra, with a few selected verses from the Sanskrit hymn of cosmic balance and redemption. Its themes of creation, destruction, and renewal inspired a fusion of devotional poetry, Carnatic violin, heavy metal, and AI visuals.

What it does

The video takes viewers on a cosmic odyssey: Sanskrit mantras chant the hymn, Carnatic violin and metal guitars evoke emotional peaks, and AI-generated imagery transports the audience through ethereal realms of space, forest, fire, and memory.

How we built it

  • Music: Recorded Sanskrit chants with Atharv Mishra, then layered Carnatic violin ragas, metal guitar riffs, and synth textures.
  • Visuals: Employed a four-stage AI pipeline—prompted storyboards, text-to-image scene generation, motion synthesis for dynamic flow, and compositing with traditional edits.

Challenges we ran into

  • Maintaining narrative coherence across unpredictable AI outputs with character consistency
  • Preserving the sanctity of sacred Sanskrit text within experimental effects
  • Maintaining high-resolution sequences
  • Minimizing blur and distortion on the most dynamic scenes to keep it realistic

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Seamless integration of Carnatic violin and metal in a devotional context
  • AI visuals that respond organically to musical and lyrical cues
  • Crafting a cohesive narrative despite AI’s inherent randomness
  • Delivering a spiritually resonant audio-visual experience

What we learned

Artistic Vision = Human Creativity + AI Tools. We mastered prompt engineering, AI video workflows, and the art of embracing serendipity to amplify emotional impact rather than control every frame.

What's next for Akashgange

Expand “Akashgange” into an interactive installation where viewers’ biometric data—heart rate, breath—drive AI visuals and musical variations, creating a living meditation that evolves with the audience.
