Inspiration

Real life experience at Uruguay public college in a 1400 student cohort supervised by 5 teachers. I saw with my own eyes the struggles, the students ad-hoc simple solutions to their own problems, and I dreamed what could be done to help everyone by using AI.

What it does

Viviana Education is a set of primitives for building education platforms. For now, it's at the repo level, so you could clone it and rehash for your own endeavours. Just point an AI at it. Akade.dev is an education design engineering platform that uses these primitives, as an example demo for the build week.

Among the features worked on are: -mass-grading and classifying according to teachers vision and standards -MCP integration to get course information in your own chatbot. -hand raising in transcribed course videos so you can ask questions and get automated responses -get proactive questions of the video you're watching

Building process

Codex 5.6 sol was used across the week for various tasks, from designing, iterative planning and scoping, but most time was used in loops of implementation work.

I integrated various tools, from ChatGPT, Codex, to Figma, Claude Design, ffmpeg.

I prototyped heavily and had prior primitives that helped with every single idea: infrastructure, social and collaborative preexisting tools, authorization and authentication, among others.

Challenges

Integrating various tools was really challenging: generating assets, mockups on chatgpt images, then using other design tools to iterate, then using AI again to start implementation. At all stages of this process, quality was eroded and had to be polished back.

The biggest challenge was the overscoping across the week, alongside of me trying hard to dream big and create something interesting. Plans had to be cut, replanning tickets had to be thought through at various stages of development. This challenge was sought for. I like it. But turned out to be a bit too much to handle.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building both this platform and this set of primitives in a week is something I didn't thought possible before. The features feel cohesive, the UI/UX and landing got to a decent, polishable state. Testing and maturity of project doesn't reflect that only a week was worked on it. I definitely think this end product has potential and will provide value.

Learnings

Better integration of the tools would have made the workflow more seamless. Dreaming a bit smaller next time in order for the end product and the development process to be less chaotic.

What's next for Viviana Education - akade.dev

Reaching out to organizations, teachers. Actually see these primitives being used and experimented with, in order to improve them in a real environment. Continuing to polish the experience, how the AI works across the primitives. Packaging the primitives into a dev-tools and open sourcing them.
