I've got some speakers in my basement that are a pain to play music on, because you have to plug your phone into a 20 year old amplifier. The problem is that most phones don't come with headphone jacks, so this isn't really possible anymore.
To solve this, I took a RaspberryPi, launched an AirPlay server on it, and connected it to my amplifier. Now, I can wirelessly stream music from any of my devices to my basement speakers.
