Inspiration

- Rideshare experiences to the Airport

What it does

  • Takes the number of flights at RIC and then tries to create an optimal schedule of shuttle departures to take passengers from Williamsburg to RIC. It considers the amount of time required to travel and deliver passengers with sufficient time, along with the number of shuttles to run per day to minimize costs and wait times.

How we built it

  • With Python and R

Challenges we ran into

  • Data scraping, software issues, package/library limitations, time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • I did something!

What we learned

  • K-means clustering, simulation

What's next for Airport Shuttle Bus Optimization:

  • inclusion of Arrivals to then transport people back to Williamsburg
  • using more data to gain better accuracy
  • finding the ideal hub in Williamsburg
  • deciding whether to place additional stops
