Airport Assistant from sensewhere Ltd is a pure software positioning solution which does not require any additional hardware installation other than the existing infrastructure such as Wi-Fi. It seamlessly integrates multiple technologies including GNSS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and sensors. Coupled with Adwhere and GeoFence it can be used to navigate from the Car Park to the gate, Locate your Friends or Colleagues travelling too and allow you to receive promotional coupons and offers for retail outlets within the Airport.
Similarly if widely deployed airport staff can view travelers proximity to gate and make appropriate localized announcements and/or if appropriate to minimize delays dispatch human airport assistants to locate a guide them effectively and efficiently to the gate . Footfall and dwell times can be monitored to plan and value the retail areas within the airport. To get the best benefit the Airport and Airlines could integrate them with Departure Control systems and electronic ticket/ wallet applications.
