Inspiration
Our team wanted to create an app that would improve our experience for any trips that we would go on. We found ourselves thinking that it would be cool if we could create a recommender system that would recommend a list of flights for a user to buy based on their past flight history. We also wanted a way to collaborate in planning trips when going as a group (friends, family, etc.).
What it does
AirDraft gives its users a fully immersive flight experience. From booking tickets, giving personalized trip recommendations, and planning out your trip, our app is the perfect app for you.
How we built it
Our application itself was built using Swift. We built the API using a modified version of the American Airlines FlightEngine that was provided to us. The designs were created using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Our initial challenge was learning Swift, as our team wasn't very familiar with it. This included learning how to create different views and use different objects within them for the frontend, and learning how to make API calls and parse JSON data for the backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having an awesome UI.
What we learned
Learning a new language can be a bit confusing when under a time crunch.
What's next for AirDraft
Expanding our features to help improve the experience of customers after they get off their flight (i.e. providing seamless transportation to where they are staying).
