Inspiration
My inspiration for AirDash came from my interest in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I’ve always been fascinated by how airplanes work, and I wanted to create something that would help me dive deeper into understanding flight mechanics by building my own simulator.
What it does
AirDash is an airplane simulator where players can control aircraft realistically using aerodynamic physics. It focuses on creating a fun but accurate flying experience, capturing the essential forces that act on a plane during flight.
How I built it
AirDash was built in Unity using C#. I focused heavily on implementing realistic aerodynamic physics rather than relying on simple or fake physics models. Every part of the project was built from the ground up with a lot of attention to how real planes behave.
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges was implementing aerodynamic physics in a way that felt both realistic and playable. Simulating forces like lift, drag, thrust, and gravity correctly required a lot of tweaking, testing, and learning.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
I’m very proud that I was able to successfully implement the aerodynamic physics system. It was one of the hardest parts of the project, but getting it to work made the flying experience feel much more satisfying and real.
What I learned
Through building AirDash, I learned a lot about how airplanes fly — especially how forces like lift and drag interact. I also learned more about physics programming in Unity and how to translate real-world systems into game mechanics.
What's next for AirDash - Airplane Simulator
Looking ahead, I want to add multiplayer so players can fly together, create more maps to explore, and introduce different types of airplanes to give players even more ways to experience flight.
