Inspiration

Aviation is entering a new era. Inspired by the legacy of early flight and the "Next 100 Years of Flight" theme, we recognized that the future of air cargo logistics shouldn't rely on static spreadsheets and manual routing. We wanted to build a modern, intelligent, and scalable command center that leverages AI-driven decision support to optimize routes, reduce fuel consumption, and manage fleet safety in real-time.

What it does

Aircargo is a professional enterprise web application that simulates an AI-powered aviation logistics system. It serves as a centralized dashboard for cargo companies and airlines to:

  • Optimize Flight Paths: Enter departure, destination, and cargo parameters to instantly generate optimized routes avoiding hazardous weather.
  • Manage Fleets & Cargo: Monitor the capacity and status of aircraft (e.g., Boeing 777F, Airbus A330F) and track active cargo manifests prioritized by criticality.
  • Analyze Risk: The intelligent decision engine automatically calculates a Risk Score by evaluating runway capacity, cargo weight limits, and dangerous goods compliance.
  • Visualize Operations: A live command center utilizes dynamic charts to map weekly cargo volume and daily fuel consumption.

How we built it

We built the prototype using a modern frontend technology stack for maximum performance and a premium enterprise aesthetic:

  • Core Framework: Next.js (App Router) and TypeScript.
  • Styling & UI: Tailwind CSS and Shadcn UI principles for a sleek, glassmorphism dark-mode aesthetic (Navy Blue, Sky Blue, and Light Gray).
  • Animations: Framer Motion for smooth, dynamic micro-interactions that make the dashboard feel alive.
  • Data Visualization: Recharts for rendering the live data analytics in the dashboard.
  • Deployment: Containerized entirely using Docker for a seamless, local "plug-and-play" execution without needing a complex backend setup. Data is dynamically injected via local JSON architectures to simulate real API traffic.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing an interface that is both highly dense with data (as required by aviation professionals) while keeping the UX clean, modern, and intuitive. We also had to engineer a lightweight, serverless JSON-based simulation engine that mimics real API data for weather, airports, and flight paths without relying on rate-limited external APIs during the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the visual fidelity and premium feel of the dashboard. Taking complex data like cargo tracking, aircraft efficiency, and weather disruptions, and presenting it through a beautiful, responsive, and animated user interface was a huge win. The automated Risk Score logic perfectly demonstrates the value of intelligent logistics.

What we learned

We learned a lot about aviation logistics—specifically how crucial parameters like runway lengths, crosswind limits, and aircraft maximum weight capacities interact when planning a successful cargo flight. We also refined our skills in creating complex data visualizations using Recharts and Framer Motion.

What's next for Aircargo

The current build is a functional simulation, but the future roadmap is highly ambitious. Phase 2.0 will introduce:

  1. Real-time NOAA/Satellite API integration for live weather tracking.
  2. ADS-B live flight tracking across global airspaces.
  3. Machine Learning models to predict supply chain anomalies before they happen.
  4. Automated drone & eVTOL integration for last-mile cargo delivery from the airport to the final destination.
