Inspiration
The idea came from how we can now use ai to keep track of objects and wanted to utilize this feature in some sort of creative and fun way
What it does
We start the game off with at menu that prompts the user to select which mode they want to play. Then when the game starts, an object spawns in a random location and depending on the mode, 1 or 2 players must collect the object by hovering over it. Each time you "catch" and object, you get a point. There is a also a timer and when the timer runs out, the game is over. Whoever has the most points wins.
How we built it
We made the gaming using a variety of libraries in python including pygames, YOLOv8, and OpenCV
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some problems with the camera not appearing in the game. Sometimes when hovering over the object, the game would not detect when the player "catches" the object.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We figured out that the reason the camera and game was not working properly was because the background frames were off by a certain amount of size. Once we were able to adjust it the game then started to work as intended.
