About the project
Inspiration
The rapid increase in air pollution caused by urban traffic inspired us to take action. Every day, millions of people breathe polluted air, leading to serious health problems and environmental degradation. We wanted to create a project that not only raises awareness but also offers practical solutions to reduce traffic-related air pollution.
What we built
We developed a mobile application that monitors local air quality and provides real-time alerts. It suggests alternative travel routes with lower pollution exposure and encourages users to adopt eco-friendly transportation methods like cycling, carpooling, or public transit.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how to integrate environmental data APIs, analyze traffic and pollution patterns, and design user-friendly interfaces that drive behavior change.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was obtaining accurate and up-to-date pollution data. We also faced difficulties in optimizing route suggestions without compromising travel time.
