AIP Integrity ID was inspired by the persistent challenges of fraud, duplicate beneficiary registration, and weak identity verification in Malawi’s Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP). We observed that subsidy leakages reduce transparency and limit access for legitimate smallholder farmers, motivating us to propose a digital identity-based solution.
During the ideation phase, we defined the core problem and proposed a solution concept centered on integrating national ID verification, secure digital authentication, and QR-based redemption to improve accountability in subsidy distribution. At this stage, we are focusing on refining the idea, identifying key system components, and planning a feasible technical approach aligned with MOSIP standards.
We have not yet fully designed the system architecture, but our goal is to develop a prototype that demonstrates how digital identity can reduce fraud while remaining inclusive for rural farmers.
Key challenges we anticipate include infrastructure limitations, data protection compliance, and integration with government systems — which we aim to address during future development phases.
