Inspiration

The journey from Tampa to Miami was more than just a road trip for us. Amidst the excitement of attending ShellHacks, we found ourselves overwhelmed by the multitude of choices on where to stop and which path to take. Each road, every turn held a story, but how were we to choose which stories to embark upon? We dreamt of a solution where the wonders of technology met the spirit of adventure. Thus, AI Nomad Navigator was born out of a need, an experience, and the vision to make every road trip a tale worth telling.

What it does

AI Nomad Navigator doesn't just plot a route; it crafts an experience. By harnessing the profound powers of AI, it curates a detailed, day-by-day plan for road trips, finely tuned to personal whims and fancies. It's not just about reaching a destination; it's about cherishing the journey.

How we built it

Blueprint to Reality:

Tech Stack: ReactJS, ExpressJS, Google Places API, Auth0, OpenAI API, Material UI Agility at its Best: Adopted the agile methodology, translating user stories into technology requirements, further breaking them into tasks, and then assigning them to passionate team members. Collaboration: GitHub was our virtual workspace, and Git, our trusty tool, helped us keep our versions in check.

Challenges we ran into

Every challenge was an opportunity in disguise:

  • REACT had its moments of... well, over-reacting.
  • Code conflicts tested our team's synergy.
  • Deciphering inconsistent outputs from the OpenAI API.
  • Navigating through the maze of incomplete documentation for several APIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We lived the real hacker spirit:

  • With adrenaline pumping, our commitment shone when we made the final code push at 10:59 AM, a heartbeat away from the deadline.
  • Technical barriers were mere stepping stones as we maneuvered through conflicts, embraced new tech, and tamed React.

What we learned
