Inspiration

My parents, who are retired and often wonder how to spend their time in more meaningful ways, inspired this project. I wanted to help them stay engaged, curious, and connected to the world.

What it does

I suggested they try reading books—but online shopping and digital libraries aren’t really their thing. Even physical books can feel cumbersome. That’s when I realized: what if they could listen instead of read?

How we built it

I designed a browser extension that reads web pages aloud and allows users to interact naturally with an AI assistant. It makes reading blogs, news, and online articles much more enjoyable and accessible—especially for those who prefer listening over reading. For content creator, "Topics Recap" is a click away to generate the topics to be used with hashtags in their social posts.

Challenges we ran into

I have faced challenges with integrating with Google Chrome built-in AI APIs. At this moment we can only use the Google API via API key.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud to have set up the technical framework successfully and to have learned so many new AI-related skills along the way. Seeing it come to life—and knowing it could genuinely help someone—was the best reward.

What we learned

I learned how to use various APIs efficiently, handle sensitive data responsibly, and balance user experience with technical functionality.

What's next for AIME

Next, I am focusing on creating an even richer user experience—more intuitive interactions that make reading and learning effortless for everyone.
