Inspiration
We have seen several ideas in this same space over the last 20-30 years, yet none have had widespread success or useability. Arguably the closest was the Wii with similar functionality, but we strove to increase immersion with a wearable glove and physical actions that are mapped to button presses.
What it does
Through an ESP32 and the ESP32 BLE Mouse library, polls a MPU6050 IMU to continually determine position and movement direction. Then interfaces with any device over BLE for communication.
How we built it
We went through several iterations of the main code, with many different geometric ideas to aid in projection. We used several different sensors for button presses and went through several iterations with different devices.
Challenges we ran into
Wrote code for a second hand as a keyboard for W,A,S,D,Shift, Space, but ran out of ESP32's. Tried to use an IR sensor for distance which was incredibly inaccurate. We had the wiring done for AA batteries but during testing they were faulty and we decided to use the laptop connection.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Functionality of Right and Left Click for basic Mouse functionality.
What we learned
I2C Standards, Arduino BLE library, ESP32 Programming,
What's next for Aim Glove
Implementation of a second glove, and additional features such as reloading with the first!
