I was inspired by the communication challenges faced by hearing-impaired individuals due to the lack of real-time sign language translation tools. This often results in social isolation and limited access to essential services.

Ailment Alley is an app that uses flex sensor data to recognize sign language gestures and converts them into spoken language in real-time.

I’m using flex sensors on a glove to detect finger movements, connected to a microcontroller. The data is sent to the app, where it's processed and converted into speech output.

I’m currently facing challenges in gesture accuracy, real-time data transmission, and syncing sensor input with app output smoothly

I’ve made significant progress on the sensor-app integration and laid a strong foundation for a reliable sign-to-speech system.

I’m learning a lot about embedded systems, real-time app communication, and designing for accessibility

Next, I’ll focus on refining gesture recognition, improving the UI, and testing the app with real users to enhance its effectiveness.
