Before we built AIDU, we listened. We asked students, professionals what they needed, where they struggled, and what they wished I could do for them. The answers painted a landscape of disconnected AI knowledge, fragmented resources, and an overwhelming digital expanse with no clear roadmap.
Students like Matt, a college senior, and Priya, a machine learning engineer, expressed frustrations over the fragmented and overwhelming nature of AI resources. This feedback highlighted a crucial issue: the problem isn’t AI itself, but accessing and effectively utilizing it.
AIDU addresses the challenges of fragmented AI resources by offering a structured, supportive ecosystem that integrates AI education with an emphasis on human-centric values and ethical practices. Our platform features clear learning pathways, community forums, and mentorship programs, making AI accessible and approachable. AIDU is more than a tool; it’s a comprehensive solution empowering students and professionals to responsibly harness AI’s potential.
3. Describe your research process and findings. If you conducted any surveys or interviews, please include the survey form and/or interview questions here. If you conducted secondary research by pulling from online sources, please include a link to your sources. (Max 500 words)
What does it mean to remain human in the age of Artificial Intelligence, especially for students across diverse fields? This question guided the creation of AIDU, an AI education platform that deeply resonates with students' needs and aspirations. Informed by a comprehensive survey that captured insights from students in various disciplines, from engineering to liberal arts, the findings revealed that a significant 68% of students were already utilizing AI for academic assistance and project development. However, they voiced a need for more structured guidance and a focus on ethical considerations in their AI education. In refining our understanding, we conducted interviews with participants who offered unique perspectives or expressed significant concerns. A UX design student mentioned, "AI tools help streamline my projects, but I often feel overwhelmed by choosing the right tool without sufficient guidance." Similarly, a computer science student noted, " There's a lot of potential in AI, but without understanding its ethical implications, I'm concerned about the future implications of my work." These insights emphasized a crucial gap in AI education: the challenge isn't AI itself but how to access and effectively utilize it.
Our (survey data showed that approximately 73% of students struggled to find AI resources tailored to their specific learning needs and career goals. Furthermore, about 42% of students expressed concerns about AI potentially automating jobs, which could lead to significant shifts in job availability within their fields. Armed with these insights, we designed AIDU to not only equip students with necessary AI skills but also to foster an understanding of how AI can be used responsibly and creatively to enhance their careers. The platform offers personalized learning experiences, recommending AI tools and courses based on individual user profiles and learning progress. This personalized approach ensures that each student can learn at their own pace and according to their career aspirations.
Moreover, AIDU includes robust community features, a response to another significant finding from our survey—that students crave a more collaborative and interactive learning environment. By integrating features such as peer-to-peer discussion forums, live Q&A sessions with AI experts, and collaborative projects, AIDU creates a vibrant community where students can learn from both the content and each other.
Ultimately, the extensive data and testimonials collected have been instrumental in defining AIDU’s mission and design. Our platform not only makes AI knowledge accessible and applicable but also acts as a dynamic educational environment that prepares students for the future in a way that respects and enhances their humanity. AIDU is committed to empowering students to harness the potential of AI in a way that is innovative, responsible, and deeply human, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of technological advancement without losing touch with the human elements that define them.
4. Describe your most important design decisions. What research findings and/or user testing results led you to make these decisions? (Max 500 words)

In developing AIDU, our goal was to create an intuitive, user-friendly platform that offers a wealth of features without overwhelming the user. This initiative was driven by feedback indicating a need for simpler navigation through the vast and complex world of AI learning and resources. Our design ethos focused on clean, functional aesthetics to make the platform accessible, particularly for those who are new to the field of artificial intelligence.
AIDU is structured around key features: AI News, Marketplace, Jobs, Learning Hub, and a Pages section for notes. Each feature is carefully crafted to cater to specific user needs:
AI News: This section keeps users informed about the latest AI developments and trends. It simplifies complex information, making it accessible for users who want to stay updated on how AI is influencing different sectors.
Marketplace: Here, users can find and utilize various AI tools that enhance productivity and creativity. Designed for ease of use, the Marketplace allows users to quickly discover and integrate tools into their work or studies.
Jobs: With AI rapidly changing job markets, this feature links educational achievements with real-world career opportunities in technology, serving as a practical bridge from learning to employment.
Learning Hub: As the educational core of AIDU, the Learning Hub goes beyond traditional courses and tutorials. It is a dynamic space for users to engage in discussions, share ideas, and collaborate with others in the industry. This interactive environment fosters a community where users can challenge each other’s thinking and grow together, emphasizing not just individual learning but collective insight and innovation.
Pages: Supporting an active learning approach, the Pages feature allows users to take and organize notes effectively. It enhances the learning process by enabling users to document their insights and questions, making it easier to reflect on and apply what they’ve learned.
Continuous refinement of these features through user feedback has ensured that AIDU is both functional and engaging. The platform effectively demystifies AI, making it approachable and actionable for users from diverse backgrounds. By focusing on interaction and community, AIDU’s design reflects our commitment to creating a comprehensive educational environment that encourages exploration, discussion, and the ethical use of AI technology.
