Inspiration

We were inspired by the struggles of smallholder farmers in Nigeria who lose over 40% of their produce due to poor market access and lack of digital infrastructure. Seeing their hard work go unrewarded motivated us to design a platform that bridges the gap between farmers and buyers through technology, ensuring fair trade and food security.

What it does

Aikperokha Agric Link is a mobile and web-based marketplace that connects farmers directly with verified buyers. It facilitates produce listings, digital payments, and logistics coordination—removing middlemen, increasing farmers’ income, and reducing post-harvest losses.

How we built it

We built the platform using a modular architecture powered by Starknet, React.js, Python (FastAPI), and PostgreSQL for scalability. The payment system integrates blockchain smart contracts for transparency and API-driven logistics for real-time delivery tracking.

Challenges we ran into

• Limited access to real-time agricultural data.
• Integrating blockchain payments with local financial systems.
• Building trust among non-digital native farmers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Developed a functional prototype with farmer registration and product listing.
• Partnered with local farmer cooperatives in Benue State.
• Created a transparent and secure digital payment flow.

What we learned

We learned how crucial user experience and education are for digital adoption in rural communities. Collaboration and empathy are as important as technology when solving real-world problems.

What’s next for Aikperokha Agric Link

We plan to pilot with 50+ farmers and buyers, integrate AI-driven market analytics, and expand across West Africa. Our goal is to empower 10,000+ farmers, reduce losses, and build a sustainable, tech-powered agricultural ecosystem.
