Inspiration
The idea came from the growing noise in the AI space. There are thousands of tools, articles and announcements every week, but they're scattered across social media, newsletters and dozens of websites. I wanted a single place where people can quickly see what's new in AI without distractions. Something closer to a real-time feed than a content platform.
What it does
aifeed is a curated feed of AI links. It helps people:
- Discover new AI tools
- Follow AI news and articles
- Find interesting projects and experiments
- Share their own AI tools or content
The goal is to make discovering AI updates fast, simple and focused.
How I built it
I built aifeed as a lightweight web application focused on speed and simplicity. The stack is optimized for fast loading and minimal UI overhead.
Most of the effort went into:
- Building a clean feed experience
- Submission + moderation flow
- Basic community interaction (likes, comments, threads)
Keeping the UI intentionally minimal. The product is built iteratively, with small improvements added over time.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge was deciding what not to build. It's very easy to turn a feed into a complex platform with rankings, recommendations, gamification and dozens of features. The harder part was staying focused on simplicity. Another challenge is early-stage network effect - building the first audience and initial high-quality submissions.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Launching a working product that stays true to its original idea: simplicity.
Also:
- Building the full submission => moderation => publishing flow
- Creating a clean, fast browsing experience
- Shipping quickly instead of over-engineering
What I learned
Simplicity is much harder than adding features. I also learned that:
- Early traction comes from manual seeding and community building
- Clear product positioning matters more than feature count
- People appreciate products that respect their attention
What's next for aifeed
The focus is on growing the community and improving small but meaningful parts of the product.
Planned improvements:
- Small UX improvements
- Better discovery tools without breaking simplicity
- Growing the number of high-quality submissions
- Expanding the audience interested in AI
