Inspiration
Thousands of lives were lost before the ambulance arrived. It inspires us to form a community of the first responder to provide faster responses to the medical healthcare need.
What it does
It helps people in emergency to seek help from certified first responder nearby (anyone with CPR/AED or other relevant certifications). The responders can understand the situation of the person through their real-time voice-over and locate the person using GPS technology in short time.
How we built it
We used Android studio with Java and XML to build the application, as well as Google maps SDK. We also use Figma to design the UI and user journey.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into incompatibility issues when we are working on the same Android project across different devices. It is also challenging to learn the Google Maps SDK from scratch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a working prototype that can run on an android phone in just two days!
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate and communicate in a team to achieve the tasks in time. We also learn a lot about new technologies that might empower our community.
What's next for Aidhere
We have a couple of potential plan for Aidhere:
- Collect location of other medical resources like First-aid kits and AEDs.
- Connect to wearable devices/apple health to send out alert automatically.
- Create an app widget or shortcut that makes the process easier for people to seek help
- People can configure the account such that the emergency contact is informed too
- Intelligent chat-box that can give certified answer to provide first-aid techniques before the helps reach
