Inspiration
We just noticed a lot of food often goes to waste around the house.
What it does
This program optimizes the distribution of food and supplies by minimizing the food rations to nearly exact of what the critical regions require, and deploying vehicles that support that much supplies in weightage. It also prioritizes regions based on the level of urgency in food requirements.
How we built it
Frontend was built in react, Vite, and treemap. Backend was built in Python with Gemini for the LLM and IBM code engine for the cloud hosting.
Challenges we ran into
Biggest challenge was us trying to set up the IBM WatsonX AI which apparently was down from IBM’s side. We spent 3-4 hours trying to solve this issue but to no avail.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Hosting the flask backend on the IBM Code Engine cloud platform, and integrating Gemini for the recommendations.
What we learned
How to host the backend on a cloud server.
What's next for AidFlow
Most likely we will detect trends in food security and prepare more food for when a critical time hits.
