Inspiration
The challenges of healthcare accessibility and coordination inspired me to build MediConnect. I wanted to create a platform where patients can effortlessly connect with doctors, book appointments, and manage consultations—all in one place.
What it does
MediConnect is a comprehensive healthcare platform that allows users to: Search for doctors by specialty or location Book and manage appointments seamlessly Engage in real-time video consultations Make secure, online payments for services Access prescriptions and medical records digitally Find trusted healthcare resources and updates
How we built it
This project is built entirely using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js). Real-time features are enabled with Socket.IO, video consultations use WebRTC integration, and payment processing is secured through a payment gateway (like Stripe or Razorpay). The design is responsive for a smooth experience across devices.
Challenges we ran into
As my first solo MERN project, I tackled challenges in implementing real-time video calls, ensuring secure data flow, and integrating third-party payment APIs. Balancing UX, security, and performance was a key learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully building a functional, user-friendly platform solo, integrating complex features like real-time video, and positive feedback from test users on the platform’s accessibility.
What's next
Future plans include expanding features like doctor ratings, medical reminders, multilingual support, and AI-driven health recommendations.
