Inspiration
We wanted AI to participate in brainstorming as a visible teammate—not just a chat panel beside a board.
What it does
AIchemist is a collaborative whiteboard where people and AI can add notes, connect ideas, comment, challenge assumptions, and create visual maps together.
How we built it
We built AIchemist with Next.js, Supabase, Groq, and WebMCP. WebMCP exposes structured board tools so agents can inspect and act on the live canvas.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was making AI actions reliable and transparent. Freehand sketches from an LLM were inconsistent, so we shifted to deterministic visual diagrams.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working shared canvas, autonomous AI contributions, structured WebMCP tools, and a visible activity trail showing how AI acted.
What we learned
AI works better in collaborative tools when it has clear actions, shared context, and visible boundaries—not unlimited freedom.
What's next for AIchemist
We want to add richer diagram tools, real-time multi-user collaboration, more AI roles, and smarter facilitation for longer brainstorming sessions.
