Inspiration

When I was in my Junior year of high school, I took a lot of advanced classes and was in many extra curricular activities and found it hard to balance all of it. Eventually I ended up failing two classes (I've always been a mostly A's a couple B's student) which eventually ended up impacting some of my goals and dreams such as getting into a dream prestigious college/university. I was sitting in my room wondering what I could have done better, what tools could I have used, how was I going to bounce back from this? I decided to build an AI productivity app in the summer before my senior year and have continuously worked on it since then and now during my first month of Freshman year I have finished the first polished version.

What it does

Aibram is a space-themed AI Life OS. It combines a personalized AI assistant, powered by Claude, with planning, tasks, budgeting, mindfulness, and a visual idea space called Space, where your notes live as nodes you can tap and ask Aibram about directly. The assistant doesn't just chat, it can propose real actions like adding a task, and you approve or decline before anything happens. A Morning Brief delivers a location-based news summary and a quote of the day three times a day, and Aibram+ unlocks premium features through a RevenueCat-powered subscription with a free trial built in.

How we built it

I built Aibram solo using React Native with Expo and expo-router, with Firebase handling auth and Firestore for data, and three Cloud Functions (callAibram, getMorningNews, getETA) doing the heavier lifting server-side. Claude powers the actual AI assistant and its tool-use/action-approval system. RevenueCat and Apple In-App Purchases handle the Aibram+ subscription, AdMob handles ads, and Tavily powers the real-time, location-based news in the Morning Brief.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the AI's action system right took real debugging. Early on, approved or declined actions kept getting re-proposed to the user, which turned out to be caused by stripping tool-use history instead of replaying the full exchange back to Claude. A similar bug caused math and chart responses to regenerate instead of answering follow-ups, for the same underlying reason. On the monetization side, the RevenueCat purchase flow was silently broken for a while because the default offering was pointed at RevenueCat's placeholder Test Store products instead of the real Apple product, which took real device testing to catch and fix.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting a real, working end-to-end AI assistant with an actual approve/decline action system, not just a chatbot, as a solo build. Shipping a fully working RevenueCat subscription with a free trial, confirmed on a real device. And building Space, which turns a plain notes list into something that actually feels different to use.

What we learned

I learned that some things are not going to make the cut. Sometimes I'm going to have to scrap things and not everything is going to work out as planned.

What's next for Aibram

I'm planning a deeper renovation that leans further into Aibram as a true productivity OS, agent-like action, plus deeper connectors across the apps people already use, with a focus on productivity, mental health, and thinking for ambitious people at any scale of ambition. On the immediate roadmap: finishing Google Sign-In, splitting Deep Focus and Mindfulness into their own tailored experiences, a Space redesign, and a full App Store launch beyond TestFlight.
