Inspiration
AI news moves too fast for everyday users in China: model launches, open-source drops and free-tier changes are scattered across dozens of sources, and most roundups are either too technical or pure hype. As an AI-education creator on Douyin, I built the hub I wished existed — one page that answers three questions: What happened this week? Which tools can I actually use for free? And how do I turn this into my next video?
What it does
- Weekly AI Briefing — curated news (Nov 2–8, 2026 edition) across five fixed categories: Large Models, Products & Tools, Industry & Companies, Open Source, and Policy & Applications. Every item links to its original source so readers can verify.
- Free-Tier Radar (“羊毛雷达”) — free API tiers, signup credits and limited offers, with US platforms listed first, expiry and card-requirement notes, and “no free tier” warnings to save users from dead-end signups.
- Tool Navigator — 12 AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Kimi, Kiro, Cursor, Hugging Face, Midjourney, Suno, Perplexity) with honest free-plan limits, searchable and filterable by use case, plus a side-by-side free-plan comparison of the big three assistants.
- Prompt Workshop — pick a scenario (short-video script, topic planning, copy polishing, plain-language explainer, summarizer), add a topic and tone, and get a structured four-part prompt ready to paste into any AI chat.
- Title Generator — enter a keyword and get 8 short-video titles built from hook / number / contrast / pitfall structures that work for AI-education accounts.
How I built it
A single self-contained HTML page (HTML + CSS + vanilla JavaScript, no build step, no backend). Editorial newspaper-style design with a custom illustrated hero, full light/dark support via prefers-color-scheme, responsive layout that stacks cleanly on phones, and all interactions (category filters, live search, prompt assembly, title generation, copy-to-clipboard) running client-side.
Challenges
Keeping every fact honest: free-tier limits and news items were verified against vendor pricing pages and original reports during the build, and the page is labeled as a dated snapshot (Nov 8, 2026) instead of pretending to be live data.
What I learned
Structuring prompts as role + task + constraints + output format dramatically improves results for non-technical users — the Prompt Workshop encodes that lesson as a reusable tool.
