Inspiration
Getting an answer out of a spreadsheet or PDF always takes too many manual steps. I wanted to skip straight to the answer.
What it does
You upload a file and say what you want in plain English. It plans the work, does it, and gives you a real result.
How we built it
An AI plans the steps. Python code does the actual math and reading. The AI never touches the numbers directly. A React frontend shows the whole process happening live, so it never feels like a black box.
Challenges we ran into
The dev machine kept crashing from a broken Node install. The AI also sometimes guessed the wrong column or forgot to show its result. We fixed both by giving it real data instead of letting it guess.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Every number the user sees is actually computed by real code. Nothing is guessed by the AI. I tested this with real files until it held up every time.
What we learned
Let the AI decide and explain. Never let it do the math itself. Real testing finds bugs that guessing never will.
What's next for AI Workbench
Save files and results beyond one session. Show real progress instead of a fake one. Add more file types if people actually want them.
