AI Tutor

Inspiration

Learning can be tougher for some because some concepts seem very difficult to understand, but this is because the explanations we hear in the classroom aren't catered for the student's interests or experiences. I was inspired by the idea that learning comes from existing and engaging interests.

What it does

AI Tutor is a learning tutor powered by Gemini API. Instead of having the same explanation for each student, it uses the interests of the student, chosen subject, and difficulty level to provide a customized lesson.

How I built it

The project was built using:

Python for the backend API Google Gemini API for generating the tutoring lesson HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend Render for deployment

Challenges I ran into

One challenge I ran into was designing prompts such that the AI would produce explanations that would be engaging and fully correct.

What I learned

While building this project, I learned how to integrate AI into a full stack application with prompt designing and webpage deployment.

What's next for AI Tutor

• Multi turn conversations or follow up questions
• More interactive quizzes to measure understanding
• Progress tracking
