Inspiration

I was inspired to join AI Tool Hub – Open Source Contribution because I wanted to start my journey in open source. As a beginner in AI/ML, I often struggle to find the right tools for students, so contributing here felt like the best way to help both myself and others.

What it does

The project helps students and beginners in AI/ML discover useful AI tools all in one place. Each contribution adds new tools with clear descriptions so learners can quickly understand:

  • What the tool is for
  • How it can help in studies or projects
  • Whether it’s free or has a student-friendly plan

By contributing, I added new tools (like Aider, Kapwing, Hugging Face Spaces, and ChatPDF) that make coding, prototyping, video editing, and learning easier for students.

How we built it

I explored the AI Tools Manager repository, reviewed its structure, and added information about student-friendly AI tools (like Aider, Kapwing, Hugging Face Spaces, and ChatPDF). I made sure to keep the descriptions short, simple, and easy for students to understand.

Challenges we ran into

  • Waiting for issue assignment with only a few hours left in the hackathon.
  • Understanding how to format contributions properly.
  • Managing time and writing clear documentation quickly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Opened issues for new AI tools.
  • Created contributions to the repo through a pull request.
  • Starred and supported the project as part of the community.

What we learned

  • How to contribute to open-source projects on GitHub.
  • How to create issues, fork a repo, and submit pull requests.
  • How to document tools in a beginner-friendly way.

What's next for AI Tool Hub - Open source Contribution

  • Contribute more tools in the future.
  • Explore building small demos to show how these tools work.
  • Help other beginners learn open source and AI tools.
