Inspiration

Students often struggle with complex textbooks, long PDFs, and dense notes, especially when studying alone. Not everyone has access to tutors or personalized guidance. This inspired us to build AI Study Helper, a tool that makes learning easier by turning Gemini 3 into a personal AI tutor that explains concepts clearly and interactively.

What it does

AI Study Helper allows users to paste or upload study material and instantly receive simple explanations, concise summaries, and practice questions with answers. The goal is to help students understand topics faster and reinforce learning through active recall.

How we built it

The project was built using Google AI Studio with the Gemini 3 Flash model at its core. We designed structured prompts to guide Gemini 3 to explain topics in simple language, summarize key points, and generate educational questions. The app interface was created using AI Studio’s app builder, allowing rapid prototyping and real-time interaction.

Challenges we faced

One major challenge was managing API quota limitations during development. To ensure a reliable and accessible demo experience, we used a public AI Studio app, which allowed judges to interact with the project without setup or authentication issues. Another challenge was prompt tuning to ensure responses were educational, concise, and student-friendly.

What we learned

We learned how to effectively design prompts for educational use cases and how powerful Gemini 3’s reasoning and low-latency capabilities are for building real-world AI applications. The project demonstrated how modern AI models can be applied to meaningful social good in education.
