💡 Inspiration

Many students struggle with the same problems: understanding difficult technical concepts, finding the right study material, staying consistent with learning, and knowing which career path to choose.

We wanted to build something more useful than a basic chatbot. The idea behind AI Study & Career Copilot was to create a single AI learning companion that can help students learn, plan, track, and make better career decisions from one place.

Our goal was to make AI feel like a personal study and career mentor rather than just a question-answering tool.

🚀 What We Built

AI Study & Career Copilot is an AI-powered student assistant that helps users:

  • 💬 Ask questions and get simple explanations
  • 📚 Learn from study materials using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • 🎯 Get personalized learning recommendations
  • 📖 Maintain learning history
  • 🎓 Explore career paths and required skills
  • 🔍 Retrieve relevant information from study documents
  • 🧠 Use an AI-agent based workflow
  • 📊 Monitor AI interactions with LangSmith
  • 🛡️ Test the system against common prompt-injection attacks

The project is designed as a complete AI application rather than only a chatbot interface.

🛠️ How We Built It

We built the application using a modular architecture.

Frontend

The frontend was developed using:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Jinja2

It provides a modern dashboard with:

  • AI chat interface
  • Learning history
  • Study material section
  • Personalized recommendations
  • Career guidance
  • Responsive design

Backend

We used FastAPI to handle the backend and connect the frontend with the AI components.

AI Layer

We used Groq for LLM inference and LangChain for connecting the different AI components.

The AI agent receives a student's question, retrieves relevant information, creates context, and then generates the final response.

RAG

The RAG pipeline allows the application to retrieve information from study material before generating an answer.

The basic flow is:

Student Question
       ↓
Document Retrieval
       ↓
Relevant Context
       ↓
LLM
       ↓
AI Response
